Synopsis
Barbara is a wealthy young woman who falls in love with Norman Phiffier, a poor man. She hides her true identity and plans to marry him. Her mother, Mrs. Tuttle, disapproves and secretly hires Norman at her department store, assigning him degrading and difficult tasks. She hopes Barbara will be disgusted and leave him—but things don't go quite as planned...

Mais Mme Tuttle (la mère de Barbara) ne veut pas que sa fille épouse un homme aussi pauvre. Elle engage donc Norman dans l'un de ses grands magasins et lui confie des tâches ardues et répugnantes. Elle espère qu'en voyant Norman humilié, Barbara finira par le quitter. Mais les choses ne se passent pas exactement ainsi…
