Synopsis
In present-day London, twelve-year-old Quinn (Bale) inadvertently awakens a massive fire-breathing dragon from its centuries-long slumber. Twenty years later, much of the world has been devastated by the beast and its offspring. Now a fire chief, Quinn is tasked with fighting the dragons and keeping a small community alive. Then comes a skilled American, Van Zan (McConaughey), who claims to have a way to kill the dragons and save humanity—a method Quinn has never seen before.

Synopsis
Dans le Londres d'aujourd'hui, Quinn (Bale), douze ans, voit sa mère, ingénieure en bâtiment, réveiller par inadvertance un énorme dragon cracheur de feu de son sommeil séculaire. Vingt ans plus tard, une grande partie du monde a été dévastée par la bête et sa progéniture. Chef des pompiers, Quinn est chargé de repousser les dragons et de maintenir en vie une petite communauté qui lutte pour survivre. Puis arrive un Américain de talent, Van Zan (McConaughey), qui affirme avoir un moyen de tuer les dragons et de sauver l'humanité – une méthode que Quinn n'a jamais vue.
